Project Heartbeat’s 8-Week EMT Program is designed for students who want a more flexible training schedule with additional time for review and skill reinforcement. This extended format prepares students for California EMT certification and National Registry EMT (NREMT) eligibility while allowing more time to absorb material and build confidence.

The 8-week program follows all California Title 22 training requirements and is ideal for students balancing training with work, school, or other responsibilities.


What the 8-Week EMT Program Covers

The extended EMT program delivers the same required EMT-B curriculum as shorter formats, paced to allow for reinforcement and deeper understanding.

Training includes:

  • EMS systems, roles, and responsibilities
  • Patient assessment and vital signs
  • Medical emergencies and pharmacology basics
  • Trauma assessment and bleeding control
  • Airway management, oxygen therapy, and ventilation
  • CPR/AED and cardiac arrest response
  • Lifting, moving, and patient transport
  • Scenario-based skills testing and evaluations

All instruction aligns with state and national EMT training standards.

Program Schedule & Attendance Requirements

The 8-Week EMT Program is offered year-round, with multiple start dates available depending on campus availability.

Training includes a structured schedule of classroom instruction, skills labs, and required evaluations. Specific schedules vary by cohort and are listed during enrollment.

Due to state and national EMT training regulations, consistent attendance is mandatory. Missing more than the allowable instructional time may result in dismissal from the program.

  • $2,150 Tuition
  • $250 Registration Fee (non refundable)
  • $200 Insurance
  • $350 Textbook (non refundable if course key has been activated)
  • $25 Uniform Shirts (non refundable/non returnable: 3 T-shirts only)
  • $25 Lab Supplies Fees and Equipment (non refundable – penlight, BP cuff, stethoscope and trauma shears)
  • Additional third-party fees may apply, including Live Scan, drug screening, National Registry testing, and county EMS certification.

Admission Prerequisites

Applicants must meet the following requirements prior to the first day of class:

Physical Requirements

EMT training is physically demanding. Students must be able to:

  • Lift at least 50 lbs unassisted
  • Stand, kneel, and balance on uneven terrain
  • Perform patient movement and equipment handling
  • Communicate clearly with patients and team members
