Project Heartbeat’s Vocational Nursing (LVN) Program is approved by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT), the state regulatory authority for vocational nursing education in California.

BVNPT approval confirms that our program meets all state requirements for vocational nursing education in California, including curriculum standards, qualified faculty, clinical training hours, and facility resources.

The program includes a total of 1,530 hours of instruction, combining classroom theory with supervised clinical experience, and is designed to prepare graduates for eligibility to sit for the NCLEX-PN licensure examination.

Merit-based scholarships of up to $10,000 per student are available for qualified applicants to our Fall 2026 inaugural LVN cohort in Oakland.

The program is 47 weeks (approximately 11 months) starting March 2, 2026 and graduating February 22, 2027. This includes 576 hours of classroom theory and 954 hours of hands-on clinical training.

Students complete clinical rotations at various healthcare facilities including long-term care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, and specialty units throughout the Oakland and Bay Area.
