According to the article "New Compound Kills Cancer without Harming Healthy Cells" by Catharine Paddock PhD, scientists have developed a new molecule that targets a site on an "executioner protein" in cells called BAX. Since that initial discovery of the BAX site, scientists have been researching for compounds that trigger the executioner protein in a way that overcomes the ability of cancer cells to resist apoptosis.
